Yankees 6, Royals 3

SWEEP!

The Yankees used the timely hitting of Jorge Posada to finish off the Royals. Posada singled and doubled, his double driving in the go-ahead run.

Alex Rodriguez hit number 52, stretching his ALL-TIME HOME RUN RECORD for Third Basemen.  He flashed his Gold Glove quality leather in the 8th, making a diving stop off of the bat of David DeJesus.

Robinson Cano drove in the Yankees' final run in the 8th with a single. He singled twice today.

Wilson Betemit played short for the nicked-up Derek Jeter today, contributing an RBI double. The Yankee bench may now be the thing that will separate them from the other contenders.

Chien-Ming Wang struggled with his mechanics all day long, but hung in there to record his 18th win of the season. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, walking 4 and whiffing 4.

Kyle Farnsworth continued his come-back to respectability, working a 2-strikeout, scoreless and hitless inning in relief of Wang.

Mariano Rivera nailed down the win in the 9th, as per usual.

Several good things are apparent after this series, the least of all being the 3 wins. The Yankees appeared to have that special glint of determination in their collective eyes, being willing to do the little things in order to win these games.

The win gives them a 4 game lead in the Wild Card standings, as Seattle bounced Detroit. The Red Sox hung on against Baltimore, so the Yankees remain 5 games back in the AL East.

A good series, and good momentum going into the Toronto series. The Yankees have 19 games remaining, and have won 6 in a row and 8 out of their last 11 for a .727 winning percentage. If they continue to win at this clip, we'll be tasting champagne in New York again before long.

GO YANKEES!

Nice with the Mickey Mouse pic lolz. This series was definitely a great way to gain momentum going into Toronto and then Boston. A-Rod again was the story, continuing to break record left and right and making the Major Leagues seem like whiffle-ball.

Glad to see Snoopy on such a regular basis, Rick. Jorge has been outstanding this year, the best catcher in the game bar none. The Yankees need more from the lefty hitters down the stretch. I'm glad to see Abreu and Cano stepping up, but Matsui needs to snap out of his dreadful slump. When he gets hot again, he'll make the Yankees even more dangerous.

Kudos to Cool Hand Nuke LaFarnsworth and Mariano for their bullpen dominance today. With Joba, they make an imposing group in the late innings. I'm very impressed with how Nuke has righted his ship. It couldn't have come at a better time.

Keep up the good work, Rick. Let's Go, Yankees!
