Richard "Rick" Newman is owner of Pet Shop Comics & Collectibles, located in Louisville, KY. Rick has been an avid New York Yankees fan since 1968, experiencing both the highs and lows of rooting for the greatest professional sports team. Rick is a student of the game of baseball, having played college baseball at Campbellsville, KY in the early 1980's. Rick's brief college batting average was .357 in limited playing time. Rick tried out for the Seattle Mariners, (arranged through the Eddie Kranepool Baseball School )before the 1981 season, hitting .429 in intersquad games before his teflon hands and tortoise-like speed made him realize that professional baseball wasn't in his future. Rick has played the game, understands the game, and understands the hidden nuances of the game. Rick follows the Yankees throughout the season, viewing or listening to every game. Rick is married to Jeannie, and has 3 daughters.
